The Beginning!

OMG....here I am at the beginning of my healthy hair journey and I am overwhelmed with information! Where do I start? Hmm I guess I will interview myself...hahahahaha so here goes.

Why are you starting a hair journey?

I am sick and tired of my limp, dry, heat damaged and lifeless hair (flat irons are the devil) that stops growing at a certain point and just starts breaking off......I am trying to challenge myself as an African woman to grow my hair healthy and very long.

How long does a healthy hair Journey take?

As long as it takes I guess. It seems that the hair guru's out there have an average of 3 to 5 years to see substantial hair growth. So as long as it takes for me to get back my healthy hair.......

What are your goals?

I am at neck length hair and my goal is really to have LONG HEALTHY hair. I would like it to grow as far as bra strap length and yes I believe I can do it. I am undecided whether I want it to be natural or relaxed, but as for now I am relaxed and have not relaxed my hair in 12 weeks.

How will you go about this hair journey?

Well to start with I need to build a regimen. From the little research I have learnt that if you are mindless and random with your hair, it will be mindless and random with you LOL ( I might as well quote myself on that) So I have to find what works for my hair, stimulates growth and maintains length.

What exactly is a hair regimen?

A hair regimen is pretty much a strict routine that you follow that maximizes products that help your hairs manageability.

Have you figured out a regimen?

I am still in the process of working out one, but from the little research I have done, these are a few products that should be staples in your hair regimen and the products I already have will represent them...Others have used different products, but I am a product junkie and I want to start with what I have until its done.

1 clarifying shampoo - Suave coconut shampoo and shikakai hair soap

1 Moisturizing Shampoo - None at all

1 Moisturizing Deep Conditioner - lustrasilk cholesterol

1 Protein Deep Conditioner - Aphogee 2 step protein treatment

A Leave-in Conditioner - Cantu Shea butter leave in

1 Moisturizer - Water, organics carrot oil

1 Natural Oil - Coconut oil, Whipped shea butter and tea tree oil, Africa's best herbal oil

What is your motivation and who do you look up to?

My motivation is really wanting long hair and being challenged that black Africans cant grow their hair longer than bra strap legnth.

My inspirations are Sunshyne who I think founded the famous hair forum site www.hairlista.com, Kim of http://www.youtube.com/user/kimmaytube/featured , Miss Kibibi http://www.youtube.com/user/mskibibi , fushion of culture http://www.youtube.com/user/FusionofCultures and last but really not the last because there are many more short2sweets59 http://www.youtube.com/user/shorty2sweet59
